Bespoke software used to be a luxury: so expensive that off-the-shelf software was almost always the sensible choice – with all its compromises. As software developers, that often frustrated us.
In 1908, a Ford Model T cost more than 800 dollars. With the assembly line, building one took 93 minutes instead of 12.5 hours, and by 1925 the car cost just 260 dollars. Suddenly, almost everyone could afford a car.

CEO & Owner
With more than 20 years of experience as a lead developer, architect, and project manager, Marcel has led virtuetech since 2012. He has built microservice-oriented architectures paired with CI/CD and DevOps, from highly confidential public-sector projects to international systems for logistics, media, tourism, insurance, telecommunications, and e-mobility. He enjoys working with people and has led teams ranging from small units to company-wide rollouts. His focus is on clean architecture, agile team leadership, and measurable results.
Marcel holds a degree in computer science (Dipl.-Inf. FH) and lectured at Hochschule Bremerhaven (2016–2021). Privately, he enjoys public speaking, skiing, cycling, swimming, and radio-controlled cars.

Many workflows still run on spreadsheets and word of mouth. Every additional order means more clicking instead of more value — and headcount grows right along with the workload.
Every change takes longer than the last. And no one can reliably say what a fix in one place will trigger somewhere else.
The intent is there, and so is the fear of a rebuild that never ends. Rightly so: cut it wrong, and a large system just becomes a distributed version of the same problem.
The product sells well. But operations grow with every customer, and costs rise faster than revenue.
Between the core applications, partner systems, and a handful of spreadsheets sit processes that should really run automatically. Instead, someone double-checks and chases it up by email.
Failing tests get clicked away because they "fail sometimes anyway." At that point, testing isn't a safety net anymore — just a cost.
Deployments are rare, take a long time, and reliably work for exactly one person. So, understandably, hardly anyone dares to change anything.
The system does what it's supposed to. But almost no one understands it anymore, changes are expensive, and replacing it keeps getting pushed back.
The requirements come from outside, with a deadline attached. When every amendment means operating on the heart of the system, compliance turns into a permanent project.
There's plenty of work, but little of it shared. Requirements come in through three different channels, and the status of any given initiative depends on who you ask.
The team is in place, decisions need making, but no one's in charge. Or the role is vacant and the search is dragging on.
